Before officially launching “Serendipity Bead Stew”, I thought it would be fun to see just how versatile and unique the “Bangle-icious Bracelet” Kits are. I took about three different color editions of Bead Stew kits to a wonderful group of Bead Gal-Friends to give the concept a “test-run”. We settled on the Limited Edition color combo called “Molasses in January”. Take a look below to see the one-of-a-kind versions of “Bangle-icious Bracelets" each of these talented jewelry-makers came up with!
Bead Gal Lynn (pictured above) works for me at Suzie Q Studio and we’ve been working together on the Serendipity BEAD STEW concept since last fall. In addition to her many areas of expertise, Lynn is amazing with color and a super-talented jewelry designer.
After we saw the fabulous “Molasses in January" Bangle-icious Bracelets” made by our Bead Gal-Friends, I asked Lynn to create a few more bracelets, using the same Serendipity BEAD STEW edition, to showcase some design patterns that could be used with any of our bracelet kits.
Take a look below at what she created. Every design is fabulous -- you’ll want to try them all!
If you’re inspired by any of these designs, here’s what Lynn did to achieve each look:
1. RANDOM STYLE: Just like it sounds…Choose your beads free-form style, with or without repeating patterns.
2. BANGLE STYLE: Create a different pattern of beads that you repeat for each round of the 5-6 rounds (so 5-6 different patterns) of “Memory Wire” which will give you the look of 5-6 separate bangles stacked on your wrist…ultra-cool!
3. SECTIONAL STYLE: Come up with patterns of beads that you like and slide each of your bead combos onto the “Memory Wire” in 1 1/2” - 2”sections on your bracelet. Doing this will give you more of design with intension, with deliberate repeating designs.
4. CHARM STYLE: I think this is my favourite style!
The “Charm Style" is a bit more advanced, but well worth learning the extra basic skills to achieve the look of a bracelet with charm dangles.
Divide up your beads into the various styles in your “Bangle-icious Bangle” kit.
Take all of the smallest “seed” beads and slide them onto the “Memory Wire” to create the beaded base of your bracelet.
To make the charm dangles you’ll need “head pins”. Slide the rest of the beads in your kit, stacking them in various combos, onto the head pins…make as many charm dangles as you like or your kit will allow for.
Next, you’ll need a pair of round nose and a pair of chain or flat nose pliers to do a “wire-wrapped loop” (Google this technique, if needed) for each head pin, to create the charm dangle.
To hang them on your bracelet, you’ll need some “jump rings” and know how to open and close them properly (you can Google this too). Attach a jump ring to the loop of each charm dangle.
Once you’ve made your charm dangles, simply slide them onto your “Bangle-icious Bracelet” and Presto!…You’re done!
What’s the most important things to remember when you’re creating your Serendipity BEAD STEW “Bangle-icious Bangle”?… There is no right or wrong way to make it…just have FUN, after all, Being Creative Feels Good!
